Waterfight!

Waterfight!

We had a lot of fun on the 4th of July, hosting a barbeque / waterfight at our house.  This first picture is Brooklyn and Gunner eating their dinner while sitting backwards on the deck stairs.  I wish I had thought of this idea earlier… it is a perfect place for them to sit without spilling!!

My legs got soaking wet filling water balloons for our water fight.  After working so hard to fill them, it was a little disheartening to see them disappear so quickly!!  But it didn’t stop them from using large (and unfortunately empty) pots and plastic cups to drench one another.  A good time was had by all.

I love this shot of Quinn.  I caught this action shot of him throwing a water balloon.  Note the ribs.  This poor kid is way too skinny!

We also had Grace with us for much of the day.  She was pretty leary about the water fight, though.  She wasn’t too excited to get wet or throw balloons at others.  (It might result in someone throwing a balloon at her, and that would be bad!)  So, Uncle Robb stepped up and carried her through the water fight until she felt more comfortable.

As you can see, it didn’t take her too long to get used to being wet.  She and Brooklyn had a great time sharing the pot full of water.  Grace also discovered that she could easily tip Brooklyn over once she got in, and had some fun doing that, too!  (Our yard was well watered that day!)

I considered adding a picture of the fire we built inside the wheelbarrow to roast marshmallows.  Ultimately, I decided against it, on the very probable chance that it might start circulating the internet in an e-mail including the words “white trash” or “dumb.”  I think we ruined the wheelbarrow doing this.  I do not recommend it.

We topped of the evening with a showing of the movie “Dragon Hunter” in the backyard.  Robb borrowed a projector from work, and we hung a white sheet from the deck.  It was a lot of fun.  I wish we could do it more often!
