Quinn's Chocolate Chip Cookies

It’s one of the best things about Christmas, in my opinion… the cookies!!  Quinn wanted some chocolate chip cookies, so we told him to dive in.  Brooklyn and Ryan joined him when the work was nearly done.  I love this shot of the 3 of them working together.  The cookies were delicious, and they were gone LONG before Christmas!!

Brooklyn's Sugar Cookies

Brooklyn has been getting the baking bug, too.  She really wanted to make these sugar cookies, so Robb helped her mix them up, and the next day we rolled them out and baked them.

She is an absolute mess with the flour.  We did not doctor this… this floury face is the real thing.  But it’s okay, because she had a ton of fun, and we have a double batch of delicious sugar cookies!!  Unfortunately for her, I didn’t let her help with the frosting.  Sometimes there is just not enough time in the day for everything.

I took this cute picture of the cookies waiting to bake.

Cut-outs waiting to bake

I love the look of them.  I have a set of very cute (for you men, read cute = very small) cookie cutters, which is great for getting those small in between spaces.  Robb hates them, though, because extra cute also = extra hard to frost.

We have also baked some yummy chocolate crinkles this year, and snickerdoodles.  Brooklyn wanted to experiment, so we tried a recipe called “spiced slices” which was okay, but not great.  I doubt we will make those again.  Robb also made caramels, which turned out a touch overdone, but it hasn’t stopped anyone from eating them.  (Not even Quinn, whose braces do not permit any caramel eating!)  All in all, it has been a very successful year for baking!
