Science Fair ’12 January 14, 2012

Filed under: Daily Life — Jen @ 8:29 am

Another Science Fair is behind us.  Our family is notoriously bad at Science Fair.  I personally hate it, and prefer to not participate at all.  What ends up happening is that I am helping put something together on the final night.  I would probably be less involved, and the projects would probably be better, if I would help the kids plan ahead a little.  I only have one more year to get this right.

Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

This year, Brooklyn’s project was titled, “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”  She gave a standardized 5th grade science test to a group of adults, then graded their tests to see if they passed.  Out of 8 adults who took the test, the lowest score was 60% and the highest was 90%.  Robb was one of the 90% people, and I came in right behind him with an 87%.  I blame the erosion and physical weathering questions.  I obviously don’t know the difference between the two.

Brooklyn did not win any prizes, but I think she had fun.  She did most of the poster creation herself as well.  She loves using paper and markers, so I’m guessing that was the part she enjoyed the most, too!

By the way, if any of you want to take the test we used, go to this link.  I will post the answers in the comments below this post.  There are 30 questions… please let us know how you did!
