We Make Our Own Fun October 3, 2012

We recently decided to spend our television money on other stuff.  So we are currently without tv.

I kind of hate it.

On the bright side, Brooklyn is now forced to break her tv addiction.

I have long been grateful that our kids have great imaginations.  They can always find something to do away from screens and electronics.  They take walks and ride bikes and play board games and make up stories and build forts.  Just like kids should.  It’s one of our favorite things.

Not long ago, Ryan and a friend had a *ahem* brilliant idea involving a sled, some duct tape, and a trampoline.  Ryan dipped into his extensive duct tape stash to create foot holds on the snow sled.  It’s like a make-shift snowboard.  Only round.

Then he took this beast onto the trampoline.  I wish I had pictures of this.  You’ll just have to imagine it… Ryan, jumping on the tramp with a sled strapped to his feet.

I did a lot of praying that day.  {Because I kept picturing broken necks and hyper-extended knees.}

Apparently, that was fun enough that the duct tape remained on the sled.  Brooklyn found it and started… (walking? sliding?) …moving around the house with the sled on her feet.  She was like those little green army men toys, feet a fixed distance apart all the time.

This really caught the dog’s attention, and he started attacking the sled.

Great game!
